Goal

Building a surveillance camera with a RPi

Tested with Raspberry Pi 3 Mod B+ and 2020-02-05-raspbian-buster, as well as Raspberry Pi Zero WH

Prerequisites

• Raspberry Pi

Steps

• Enable Camera Module raspi-config > Interfacing Options > Camera > Enable

• Install PiKrellCam according to guide https://billw2.github.io/pikrellcam/pikrellcam.html (Archive)

• Store on NAS: Either using nfs or smb

  • NFS

      sudo apt-get install nfs-common

  • SMB
    • sudo apt-get install samba-common smbclient samba-common-bin smbclient cifs-utils
    • nano ~/.smbcredentials

        username=username
        password=password

    • chmod 600 ~/.smbcredentials
    • nano /etc/fstab

        //192.168.1.123/surveillance  /mnt/smb  cifs  credentials=/home/pi/.smbcredentials,vers=1.0,noperm,rw,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777  0  0

    • sudo mount -a
